Day 132: Cat Fight

I had to take my cat to the vet today. She was outside all night because she wouldn't come in when I called her. Today she was very quiet, and kept hiding behind the couch. When I tried to get her out she crawled UNDER the couch! Then my mum told me she thought she heard a cat fight or something during the night. So I tipped the couch up to get Kishka out, but when I picked her up she cried, and I could tell she was hurt. So I immediately called the vet to make an appointment and took her in as soon as I'd picked Elizabeth up from school. The vet found several bites on her, and also some dark fur caught in her claws, so it looks like she at least fought back! They shaved her fur around the wounds so they could clean them, and gave me some antibiotics to give her for 10 days. I also have to try and clean the wounds with warm water for a couple of days, and keep her in for a week. She should be fine though. She's been back under the couch since we got back home, but hopefully she'll be feeling better tomorrow.

Day 117: New Collar and Tag

I got my cat, Kishka, a new collar and tag today, as she lost her old one. It's the second one she's lost in about 6 months. The type of collar she wears is designed to break open if it gets caught on anything so the cat doesn't get strangled, so at least I know they are working. Last time I got her a nice engraved tag, but since she lost it so quickly I just got her a cheap one this time. This one made me smile when I saw it. The collar is a nice light blue. We'll see how long it lasts. I've been keeping her in since she lost her old collar a few days ago, so she was desperate to get outside today, even though it is windy and rainy!

Day 76: Annual Vet Checkup

Today is St Patrick's Day, and we celebrated by taking Kishka to the vet for her annual checkup! I got behind with her booster shots a little, so she got them today too. She is fine, has put on half a pound that's all. We were in and out pretty quickly.

We are all wearing green today. All of Elizabeth's class were told to wear green, and they all looked so cute! It's hard to tell them all apart when they're all dressed similarly though! Today is also my Dad's birthday, so we hooked up on the web cameras when we got back from the vet.
